Whether you check out The Nutcracker from a traditional professional company like The National Ballet of Canada in Toronto, catch one of the many Ontario performance dates of Jorgen Dance's tour, take in an international production like The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine or watch our talented local dancers take the stage from dance studio's like York Dance Academy performing at Newmarket's NewRoads Performing Arts Centre and Just 4 Kicks performing at the Gravenhurst Opera House, you won't be disappointed. And of course you can always grab a cup of hot coco, turn the Christmas lights on and hit play from home. So whether you're favourite part of the Nutcracker is watching the growing Christmas tree, heading to the icy realm of the Snow Queen or you're dreaming of Sugar Plum Fairies, the tradition of The Nutcracker Ballet never disappoints.

Gravenhurst Opera House and Just 4 Kicks Academy of Dance are proud to present THE TALES OF THE NUTCRACKER. This special adaptation of the traditional Nutcracker Ballet is sure to delight. This perennial favourite retells the story of young Clara who one Christmas Eve receives a Nutcracker as a gift from a peculiar and magical visitor. At the stroke of midnight, the air is filled with enchantment as a spell is cast where toys come to life, an army of rats do battle with toy soldiers, the Nutcracker turns into a Prince and Clara finds herself whisked away towards the land of the Sugar Plum Fairy. This colourful community production features an eclectic mix of ballet, tap, hip hop, and acrobatic dance. This is a holiday treat for young and old, don’t miss it!

The Nutcracker, a traditional holiday favourite with a contemporary twist. Young Clara is celebrating the festive season with her family and is presented a Nutcracker doll by her uncle, a famous magician. When the clock strikes midnight Clara finds herself immersed in an exciting adventure where she helps the Nutcracker Prince battle the mice and their King. The Prince then takes Clara on a magical adventure where they travel through the land of snow the land of sweets where she meets the Sugar Plum Fairy.
This up-dated ballet production features a variety of dance styles and is performed by dancers from The York Dance Academy and guest artists!
A wonderful way to celebrate the holidays and will entertain children of all ages!
